Dear Abbey: Un-Thanksgiving Day

#TakeAStand against NFL Players #TakeAKnee

After having an awesome ThanksgivingI tweeted this out:

My brother is a @{county} sheriff Deputy. He’s had coworkers/friend killed by bad guys. The @NFL players are dissing people like them. #NotCool #TakeAStand not #TakeAKnee

This always reposts to facebook to which a friend replied:

No they aren’t … You know there is bias. … People have the right to protest in any way they feel. It is not disrespecting your brother and colleagues. It has been a disrespectful system all over the US in general. They are trying to enact change and give a voice to their frustrations without violence and without inciting violence. I would say it’s very American and very respectful. We do not pledge allegiance to officers. We pledge it to our flag and the laws of the land.

My Long replies qualify as blog posts.

“Un-Thanksgiving Day”

Notice how the unraveling of our society started (in the ‘60s) when our country’s 1950’s “Fathers” deemed it right to eject God from the society (more on that below) – which has been going on ever since.

God has started handing us over to our depravity and setting us up to be carried off to our Babylon for our sins just like he did his people Israel and Judah so long ago. We are living in a chaotic, demonic day. I am sad for it.

Whether its the community in fear (from people whipping up the fear), or the Police/deputies the object of that fear: Not caring about the people involved on either side is it’s own form of bigotry and prejudice. Folks like my brother are just working middle-class with families to feed and shelter. It is absolutely disrespecting them:

  • Kaep wearing pig socks and kneeling (He set the tone for exactly what this is all about)
  • NFL game in London, players standing for the English National anthem (the founders of the biggest grievance, slavery and prejudice) while kneeling for the US (who banished it)Going to Mexico and doing the same thing (Marshawn Lynch)

I prefer Richard Sherman’s take from last year: Stop protesting and Do Something about it. He’s proactively working with people to teach them how to respond to police to avoid an incident {It’s own commentary about the people}

Protesting is not “American.” That’s an amorphism Liberals on TV and colleges/schools have pushed and others bought into. Fleeing religious persecution, Revolution, war, being an honorable person and honoring God (up until the Bible was deemed unconstitutional to be taught in schools in the 50’s.) That has been uniquely American – until the last 50 or so years. But the God of the Universe is no longer welcome among this people.

We have become ungrateful, selfish, and uncaring towards each other. This whole NFL #TakeAKnee / Anger in the black community thing is a symptom. And The police are not a cause. It’s the darkness in the human heart and trying to live without God.

Christian Church, You have been Squirrelled

Ping-Pong

There is a lot of back and forth that happens on Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, the Like. It’s bad enough that people on the same side wind up biting and devouring each other, and particularly the Christian Community.

Now I’m not going to get all Ecumenical on you and call that Catholics and Evangelicals should agree (its the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation for Heaven’s sake!) nor that something like the Redding Bethel Church and John MacArthur come to a truce. Gospel purity is the issue. No backing down.

But recently I’ve seen too many direct or indirect posts about Christians saying something about President Donald Trump, a reply comes, and then people who call themselves brothers jump all over each other in what I reference to be a Ping Pong match. Back-and-Forth Back-and-Forth. And when one person thinks they’ve scored the other person blows them off. And vice verse.

I want to call our attention to Ephesians 5:

15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

I love that line about addressing one another in Psalms, hymns, Spiritual songs making melody to the Lord with your heart – submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

I don’t see a lot of that going on. As I said, its more biting and devouring of one another.

Church – You have been Squirreled.

I will call it out: This is a demonic distraction.

If people who don’t know Jesus or His Gospel – or maybe even disdain it for one reason or another (out of the inbred Humility within the Human Race) – we are not doing anything with our public face to make Jesus look good. We first want to make ourselves look good, then maybe Jesus. But we definitely want to make the other person , even a brother in Christ, look like an idiot.

This is internal pride, spurred on by a constant onslaught of 24-hour #FakeNews cycle combined with an epidemic of Snow-Flake-itis where Emotions, not reason, rule our direction. [All networks, even Fox are guilty of making the camera paint an inaccurate picture.]

But these light and momentary tribulations (and seriously folks, as stupid as it gets in the US, we don’t know what REAL Government/society imposed Tribulation is) are not worth the eternal glory that will be revealed when we stand before Jesus.

Our True Focus

Don’t try to make yourself look great. He must increase. YOU must decrease. Make Jesus look good in how you treat each other – in person AND online. And let’s start talking and engaging one about about what you are learning or how you are growing in the Lord. Not just about your latest favorite political point.

Peace. Out.

Anthem protests and Presidential Commentary

President Trump waded more into commenting on our cultural rot this last week tweeting NFL Players should stand for our flag.

In addition he called these protestors “S.O.B.’s” – NOT presidential. That comment should have stayed locked away in his heart. He needs to work on that part of his communication skills because it has overshadowed the real reason he has been pushing back. The anthem-protest kneeling and fists in the air, and the general tearing down and disrespecting of our country.

So today the NFL teams responded in force:

  • In England today, the Jaguars and the Ravens had players kneeling for the American Anthem, but standing for the British ‘God Save the Queen” (On Foreign Soil!)
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawk Players stayed in their locker rooms
  • @ESPN on Sunday evening had nothing but interviews with this theme: Trump Sucks, Anthem Protests are Great

We’ve Been Here Before

I remember President George H.W. Bush back in the 1992 Presidential Campaign, running against Bill Clinton, President GHWB said we need to be more like the Waltons (or Leave it to Beaver) and less like The Simpsons. Ohhh TV had a field day with that one. The Simpson’s that season even had an episode featuring that quote (before the end of the campaign) with the cartoon family reacting. Here is a quick article i found with info. (Read through the following as quickly or slowly as you wish, bit you get the flavor.)

That didn’t go well. Bush Lost. I think this heaped on.

Trump’s Comments aren’t going well – because the media has a really big bull horn, they are liberal, and have been slamming the country for years. It’s become shrill since President Trump is in office.

The Stakes are Much Higher Now

I quote scripture frequently in my quotes because there is some common sense to be found in the foundation of God’s Word. Romans 13, penned by the Apostle Paul, tells us to show respect and honor to whom it is due.

“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:1, 7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/rom.13.1,7.esv

Our Country, our Flag, our Governing authorities, and on down the line, are all being disrespected. As for our governing authorities, they have been acting quite disrespectful / despicable themselves. Here comes Donald Trump calling them out (his Tweets and Communication Style could use a little work) as us Country-Folk love to hear, and these “targets” double down.

Trump is desiring to pull out the best in America, talking up America, defending the best of her traditions and customs. The Flag is one of them. He has waded (again) into cultural controversy. But the only controversy comes for the angry leftists who blame America first for everything. No exaggeration.

The Disrespectful, in their arrogance, become even more-so, encouraging others to join them.

The Media esteems these “Disrespectful’s” as being the moral equivalent of Gahndi or Martin Luther King Jr.

Then protests ensue as these folks are participating in a great tradition (of protest) in our country. Nothing great about protest, and its not part of our tradition. It’s part of our national sin and disgrace.

This will be the ultimate demise of this country and the freedoms we enjoy. Trump speaking out against this bad behavior is providing the needed contrast. But unfortunately our country citizens have chosen to see this as a reason to abuse the President, not take heed and respect what he is observing.

Love the Unloveable

I have a person I follow on Twitter who offered up this:

If you think you love this country but do not value the people in it, what is it exactly that you love?

Turn that question around and ask – what do YOU love. It ain’t love for me and my freedom to have an opposing view. You just want to turn around on me for being unloving of others for daring to love this country and defend it against unfair attack.

We who don’t like the protests have to suck it up and show love to the poor oppressed millionaires.

They can crap on us all day long with their disrespectful display, but the obligation is on those who love the country.

That’s a steaming pile of wreaking hypocrisy.

  • “Do as I say, not as I do’
  • Or as the soft headed would say, “Do as they say, and just love them, understand them.”

I don’t mind the last sentiment – that is almost getting into Jesus’ territory where we consider others better than ourselves (our culture de-emphasizes truth in favor of emotions and feelings, no matter how Evil) What I do mind is I am lectured to do this … over and over and over again. I even learned this past weekend I am part of a demonized group: WEC – White Evangelical Christian. They forgot one more Category that makes me on the wrong side of every issue. Male. WMEC?

These professors should do more practicing and less preaching. I have yet to see one of these angry people (or the “reasonable” soft-headed types) come to the defense of an “opposing voice”, tell others they should love people like myself. Nope. #Hypocrites.

So dear @NFL and you liberals in general:

  • You don’t care about me – and my feelings that the Nation that enabled you to be great
  • You don’t love me – even in disagreement we should have a reasonable dialogue, not your anger and double standard demands.
  • You definitely don’t show deference to me – you think all thought is your liberal thought and everything else should be quieted (that is called Fascism)

So while I am still free in this country quickly trying to get rid of its freedoms, I am choosing to take a Knee and Stay in the Locker Room for your product. I will watch something else. Because President Trump is right (except calling them S.O.B.s – Communication skills issue) – you should be looking to either STOP these obnoxious displays “on the field” or FIRE these people.

But you will sit in your echo chamber talking about how bigoted, prejudicial, sexist, and lacking in love I am. Because I’m a WMEC who voted for Trump. And I’ll do it again.

And if this crap doesn’t shape up, after 30+ years being a 49er fan dating back to Joe Montana/Dwight Clark/ Ronnie Lott (the MAN by the way!) you can bet I won’t buy your product again.

An Ashley Madison Conundrum

Is that Forbidden Fruit Really Worth it?

I was reading a story on ZDNet about an Ashley Madison ex-customer who, via hacked information, was being blackmailed to pay up to cover up extramarital activities.  (Remember the Story when Ashley Madison Extra-marital affair WebSite was hacked in 2015?)

In Ashley

The story is lengthy, which I won’t recount here, but it sets up its anonymously named ‘Tom’ as a victim of a wife who didn’t want to be intimate, and having an affair partner who wanted more than just sex.  He was safe until it was hacked.  Now the hackers are reaching out to him via email threatening to send a revealing letter to his home address.

The story lifts up how awesome and less tense his marriage was once he had an outlet for sex. “It was really helpful” so says this piece.

Culture

I’ve noted in recent days (accelerating since 2010 I would say) the decline in any moral or civil values in our culture. It’s not about “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”That has been substituted with “Do unto others as I selfishly desire, and when caught or called out, excuse myself and blame ‘them’ for being judgemental. I’m okay!”

So we dive headlong into what is obviously destructive behavior, thinking one of a number of erroneous things like

  • Everyone Else is doing it
  • I have a valid *reason* for doing this: ___________ (plug in your excuse)

Between those two, ESPECIALLY they last one, we cover all of our selfish desires no matter how damaging. And then we get caught. Suddenly that last excuse becomes a weapon by which we use to either sheild ourselves or to hurl at someone else in attack. And we start Damage Control. The house of cards starts to fall down all around us and
we realize those excuses are flimsy. Some will actually wisely succumb to the inevitable. Other will fight what they deem a righteous war (defending their lapse) but only wind up winning a Pyrrhic Victory. They Win a battle, but wind up losing the war. It’s kinda like the difference between being right, and dead-right.

Consequences

As a man, I can empathize (from the flesh) with this Tom fellow. I think most of us could. But as a Christian and adult understanding the consequences of my actions, I can only shake my head and think he “Shoulda known better”. The Ashley Madison Logo of a lady’s face  holding up a “Shoosh” finger in front of ruby red lips should’ve easily translated into the Jolly Roger Skull and Crossbones Flag. Abandon hope all ye who enter. I think the Easter Mystic idea of Karma fits here.
Some people get away with bad behavior and it looks glamorous. But what about those who get caught? Yeah, we don’t read too much about those narratives. We are deceived today about consequences. The fact this guy Tom was even getting pressured from the person he was fooliing around with wanting more was unforseen danger. Today we ignore what happens if the whole thing just comes crashing down.
The guy Tom only has a wife – who would be crushed. I am not excusing her lack of enthusiasm for being with her husband. (I could argue she allowed the soil to harden that created this condition, so Tom is not alone being at fault – he just took the consequential action by which his small family is threatened). What if there were kids? Relationships get torn and innocents get caught in the middle. Messy Messy Messy.
If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. If it screams forbidden fruit, are you ready to pay the cost? Are you even paying attention to the cost?

Some godly wisdom

Here are some things from God’s word to consider, especially when it comes to acting on “Forbidden Fruit”. And if you are a reader who maybe is suffering consequences as a result of bad decisions, please read to the end. There is a passage specifially for you – one of hope and restoration.

  • “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:7-8, 10‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    http://bible.com/59/gal.6.7-8,10.esv
  • “”You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:27-28‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    http://bible.com/59/mat.5.27-28.esv
  • “Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.” “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.”
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:11-14‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    http://bible.com/59/rev.22.11-14.esv

Hope and Restoration

I am not going to candy coat it. Sin is destructive. All the way back to the first rebellion in the garden of Eden. Jesus Christ died to pay the price for that sin. All he asks is you repent of your sin and ask forgiveness of him, and then follow him diligently. And here is his promise:

“If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:6-7‬ ‭ESV‬‬
http://bible.com/59/1jn.1.6-7.esv

We can be cleansed of that sin. Maybe not the consequences, but he will separate it from as far as is East is from the West. Only then is there hope of restoration (over time.)

Rage in the Nation

I think Peggy Noonan did a good job writing about the hatred and anger coursing through our country today in her article “Rage Is All the Rage, and It’s Dangerous“.  Put an exclamation point on the “It’s dangerous” clause.  I encourage you to read the article, and take my words as a quick addendum.

I also will refer you to blog entries I’ve recently written observing this behavior:

During the Barack Obama presidency a great many things occurred I not only disagreed with, but recognized how detrimental they are to our country.  Obama Care, Benghazi debacle, and worst of all giving Iran a green light to start making nuclear weapons. What the #^%!?

As a good citizen concerned about my country I sat back and watched it, chomping at the bit for my next time to vote. And I did. But up to that point you didn’t see me, or anyone like me, out protesting, smashing windows, making fun of people, being derogatory, mean spirited towards people – for making their choice in both 2008 and 2012.

But for those on the left, once Donald Trump was announced winner, they’ve become unhinged, Angry, Violent, Dangerous. Even those in the church – Jesus’ body here on earth to do the will of the Father, directed by the Holy Spirit – have succumbed to the  zeitgeist of our culture.

  • I have seen neighbors
    • … state on their social media accounts that politics supersedes relationships.  (Mind you Jesus wholeheartedly disagrees – people are first.)
    • …  call out they need to get to know and love people with skin other than caucasian.
    • We have fellow church members who
      • … take to giving cold shoulders, an unlistening/uncaring ear when they discover you flow contradictory to their favored political issue or movement
      • … will argue their point almost mercilessly on Social Media – posting edgy statements as they argue back and forth.

[My wife has started to ‘unfollow’ people for her sanity]

  • I’ve seen community-leaders seemingly rage on Social Media against the straw-men they’ve drawn up as the bigots of our time.

The Sudanese refugees  have been a hot topic recently  The recent terrorist attacks in Europe coming out of the group have not appeared to have any effect on their “snobby-American” bashing for not loving on these poor people (with Terrorists in their midst.)

All of these folks don’t me in entirety, or my day-to-day situation, but I leave their messages (whether off the stage, on a street corner, or from a web browser) feeling as if they’ve sized me up as the biggest mysoginistic-bigot offender ever.  And as they write or speak, I can sense the rage.

They get all angst’ed up over Donald Trump overlooking Barack Obama’s outright race baiting. Before him, Bill Clinton was misogynist in chief.  But both men are heralded as Great Democrat Presidents from the past.

I made clear my choice this time around (actually each time around) in the enthusiastic hope my choice would be the winner.  There was spirited debate on and off social media. But the difference this time is their rage hasn’t subsided.  I keep waiting for them to run out of energy, but as a group the Left has a LOT of energy.  And they will support a lie as well as anyone could.  And as for friends.  They want to stay cold as they look down their nose to those they consider politically and ideologically inferior.

I Consider God’s Word in these matters.

  • Ephesians 5:21 – Submit to one another out of reverence of Christ
  • Philippians 2:3-4  Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-8aLove is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[b] it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

    Love never ends.

It would be nice to see less toxic rhetoric, more abiding by laws, and more love and tolerance coming from the left.  We’d have a whole different outcome to our modern day.

UPDATED 6/20 – Bachelor in Paradise: “It’s not my fault”

Sex in the modern age

So there was some alleged “Bachelor in Paradise” sexual misconduct that shut down production.

Now a gal has stepped forward, Corrinne Olympios, saying she is a victim and she hired a lawyer.

UPDATE 6/16/2017 – I Made the point in the original post the guy in this matter will be demonized, and according to this yahoo story, this has started: DeMario Jackson says he lost his job amid scandal.

UPDATE 6/20/2017 – And now it was proven no misconduct occurred: Bachelor will resume filming; no sexual assault occurred … but seriously, DeMario’s life has been sent in a tailspin. He is young and I hope he recovers well.
——————————————

I watched a silly TMZ Gossip clip on YouTube about the incident which effectively summarized the event (anonymously labled) and followed up that the cameras were rolling and the gal appeared totally engaged despite her claim otherwise.

Corrinne is attempting to play the victimized innocent girl card. And there are social internet comments already coming out trying to play the race card.

I dont really care about the ins and outs of the event or the participants. But what we have here is somebody who put herself in a compromising situation and she wants to blame everybody else except herself. The problem of the situation is exacerbated with we sprinkle in the schizophrenia of our culture’s “values”:

  • We should be free to have sex with whomever we choose
  • You cannot have sex with someone who doesn’t consent
  • If someone is too incapacitated to conset, you cannot proceed

So here is a gal riding dirty on a guy getting him all pumped up to rock it.According to reports (Fake news is a real thing mind you), she appears totally in control and aware of the events

After the fact she claims she was blacked out, unaware of events

Bluntly, the guy in this matter is getting the raw end of the deal. If she agressive towards him, she has no resonable expectation for him to back down.

Now, having said that, there is an overriding law that is being buried by the increasing display of depravity in our culture, which is God’s Law. “Oh No!” you may say, here is the Holy Roller. And maybe so. But I guarantee one thing. If they (even just “she”) were careful to guard themselves in any way, this would not have occurred and this show could’ve gone on, selling commercials, getting ratings, and everyone walking out as if it were happily ever-after (or at least the way things ought to be.)

God tells us fidelity is His character and he expects us to abide according to that. That fidelity is to be to the (future/present) Marriage Bed. Most of us have failed in that way, but let us acknowledge that fidelity for both parties would’ve averted this situation.

Hewbrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

God also reminds us to avoid getting drunk (for you nitpickers out there I didn’t say God commands us to avoid drinking a glass of wine or beer) for it leads to debauchery (as in this case.) And that alone condemns this Corrinne as not being a victim but a willing participant. She got drunk willingly. She was acting on her own volitions (lack of inhibitions.) Don’t put this off on the poor guy.

Ephesians 5:17-18 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

Seriously, this gal has no standing. Our culture may rally to her defense, and this poor young man (black, white, hispanic, asian – doesn’t matter) will get the butt-end of a public bat because he is a guy who got drunk, and messed around with an aggressive drunk gal. And now she’s whining.

In God’s court of Law they are both guilty and need to repent. Thankfully, God came and died on a cross for our sins, then rising from the dead he conquered death. If we repent (turn away from ) our sins and turn towards God, in faith, he will wash our sins away and give us the victory over death that Jesus won. And we will be counted innocent in his eyes. Even this situation can be cleaned by God’s healing hands.

Lastly, do not listen to the court of deceivers in our culture. Go to the truth. It will set you free. And watching this stuff transpire will give you a headache wondering why people do such depraved stupid things. I send you to Genesis 3 and the Fall of Man for that answer.

Extra-Constitutional: The Separation of Church and State

The Constitution of the United States of America is a venerable document that transcends every time and era, and directly addresses the relationship of the Government to people.  Conservatives and Constructionists hold to a view it is an unmovable bedrock upon which our country is built. Liberals characterize it as a living breathing document that is to bend and flake to the modern man and woman and their current day: i.e. finding rights in there that were never conceived 250 years ago, such as Transgender bathroom usage.

And of course whenever the group of liberals suffer what they consider a loss (ie. not getting their way) they say the Constitution is an ancient document that has no relevance to us today.  Today’s American society (and the watching world for that matter) saw this on display when the “Left”, represented by the Democrat party candidate Hillary Clinton, lost a Presidential bid to Donald Trump, running as a Republican.   Suddenly the very things they venerated when going their way (respect the results of the vote, etc) suddenly became old and dated, with need for immediate change – to ensure their ongoing victory.

It is that very change to a foundation of our country that brings me to the story I caught today reading the news: “Atheist forces school to drop the Ten Commandments.”  Marie Schaub, in a town near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an avowed atheist who took her child’s school district to court to remove the 10 Commandments from the grounds of the school.

“It’s unfortunate that many people in my community don’t understand or appreciate the separation of church and state, but I hope this settlement serves as an important lesson,” she told the Valley News Dispatch.

“Separation of Church and State” is not a phrase in the US Constitution

Whenever questions of the constitution come up, the Left feigns an heir of superiority, like they own the issue.  This one is no different, and Ms. Schaub’s statement above about her “appreciation for separation of church and state” demonstrates her hubris as well as her well entrenched ignorance.

The only statement about religion in our Constitution is found in the first Ammendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peace- ably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

via  Constitution found at Congress.gov

Step by Step

  1. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion
The background to this was, in England, all citizens were forced to be part of the “Church of England” – which exists today. All other religions were banned.
Scanning the internet, the BBC has an interesting blurb on the Church of England’s history.
  2. or prohibiting the free exercise thereof
This matter was to establish, you could worship God in a manner to which you prescribed, not the Government. This meant freedom to attend a Baptist church, a Zorastrianist church, and even when they surfaced, and LDS Mormon church, etc. Freedom.

That’s it. No other mention in the entire document.  I would encourage YOU to take a quick walk through our Constitution found at Congress.gov, (follow the link, enjoy commentary in italics beneath each amendment.)  A straightforward read  can be found at ConstitutionCenter.org

So where does this infamous phrase come from?

“…most people incorrectly think the phrase is in the constitution. The phrase “wall of separation between the church and the state” was originally coined by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptists on January 1, 1802. His purpose in this letter was to assuage the fears of the Danbury, Connecticut Baptists, and so he told them that this wall had been erected to protect them. The metaphor was used exclusively to keep the state out of the church’s business, not to keep the church out of the state’s business. “

A Farce Propagated

It was from a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to a bunch of Connecticut Baptists!

So how can this be used so richly by so many people to create legal rulings and express “Academic Thought”?   A few ideas come to mind:

  • Lack of Critical Thinking
  • Lack of Historical Background
  • Willful manipulation of the facts to suit one’s end goal

I think the first two speak for themselves.  Our society has devolved to a point where anything requiring deep thought or moderate research drives a person to a safe space where they need play-doh and puppies.  Critical Thinking once a crown jewel of our society has become a forgotten art.

The wilful lack of historical background encouraged by our government’s own Department of Education, down to the schools across the country is nefarious at best.  It seems we don’t want to stress out little Johnny to much and require much of them.  So they leave school without having learned a thing – and pounding their fists for separation of Church and State – not knowing what that even means.

But even worse, there is a political group (dare I say Political party – who did attempt to eliminate God from their platform, and succeeded for 24 hours before God being reinstated) who is wilfully manipulating the truth to their own end to eventually make any type of religious reference on a state ground an offense.  (But of course we can give $500 billion dollars to Planned Parenthood for the sacrifice called Abortion.)  Their purposes, other than hatred for God the elimination of God from public life, is unclear.

Until righteous souls in the US Congress decide to stand up and say enough, and these same righteous people assert their Constitutional power to create laws and prevent the courts from usurping and bastardizing both power and purpose of Congress, the Left and the radical factions within the Democrat party will continue this Extra-Constitutional march.  It can be stopped.  But we need integrity in our leaders, not self-interest or a flinch towards self-preservation.

Martin Luther King Jr: 1963 Dream vs. 2017 Narrative

Today the United States celebrates Martin Luther King Jr, who, 54 years ago, boldly marched for jobs and Freedom for a whole segment of our society that was unrighteously being denied.  He famously marched in Washington D.C. and marched from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.

His message was for “Love and Optimism” over “Hatred and fear”.

He spoke of the glory of the Lord, a God who loves all His creation, rising to flatten every hill, over-coming basically evil opposition looking to oppress God’s people.

He optimistically proclaimed the day will come we can all walk hand in hand, Free at last.

I am prompted to write something I saw as a headline on DrudgeReport.com today:

Another headline reads “Reporters beg MLK III to attack Donald Trump.” The embedded MSNBC Video MLK III’s last answer to what his father would’ve said to Trump: “I think my father would be very concerned about the fact there are 50 to 60 Million people living in poverty, and somehow we have to create the climate for all boats to be lifted”, referring to “A rising tide lifts all boats” analogy (or amorphism as it is labeled on Wikipedia.)

2017 Narrative: Things have improved, we have a long way to go

A.K.A. “Hatred and Fear

Headlines from the previous section the do not fit the mainstream media, pundit, Politico-agenda advancing narrative.

The camera lens and written word shape a narrative on TV or the internet. A small or non-problem is misrepresented, exaggerated/exacerbated in a public plane as if it were the rule, not the exception.  The result is the more corrosive and negative direction that negates healing and positive movement.

They claim Martin Luther King as their hero, yet his descendant’s/extended family’s own words run counter to the narrative. Aveda was direct, to the point where-as MLK III was clear, but careful.  Media-types don’t pause and reflect on this, they march forward with such headlines/statements “African Americans and Donald Trump have a tenuous relationship.”

See Sunday’s Washington Post,  ABC News website, and NBC News reporting Lewis vs. Trump confrontation before MLK Day – it disregards the fact congressman Lewis picked this fight, causing the controversy.

NBC has a reputation for propagating #FakeNews: e.g. Exploding GM Truck Gas tanks; editing the George Zimmerman 9-1-1 call about Trayvon Martin; anchor Brian Williams lying about his war-zone experiences.

Substitute “… and Donald Trump” in the above …

  • … and Police
  • … and non-minority people (generically White people)
  • … and {conservative/Republican} Government (Democrats get a pass)
  • … and Donald Trump, Mitt Romney, George Bush

They (media, et al) treat a whole segment of society as monolithic, subject to group-think (a stereo-type itself.)  The result, good or bad, is not the concern.  It’s about promoting chaos and tumult.

Media, The 24 Hour News Cycle, gives us Hatred and Anger

The famous news term “If it bleeds, it leads” says give the sensational to attract an audience.  Fit this into the 24 hour news cycle debate/monologue and the result is amped up emotions, bad feelings, anger (both sides of the political aisle.)  Find those few people unhappy about an event or outcome, then magnify feelings, words, cause controversy for the sake of ratings, affirming philosophical leanings, or both.  This fuels the reactive feelings of the viewers translating to society, seen in recent events:

The media ideals get planted and enforced in our education system (also owned also by the left) where you have Cultural/Social Studies of various kinds, or slanted history courses known to concentrate on the perceived bad, aggrieved, negative, then blaming the bogey-man white person/law-enforcement/conservative … anything that is not politically-correct enough.  You disagree with them, they (the Left) demonize you.

  • Nullify Dreams and hope, replace by grievance.
  • Depraved man’s (ancestors of Adam) darkened hearts cling to darkness and incubates it
  • The dark grievance is acted out upon in a most eggregious manner
    • see the 4 episodes I named above as examples.

The cycle is to create a “Straw-man” and knock him down, intending to leave the hearer 1) believing the Fake-Straw-Man exists, 2)demonstrate how StrawMan succumbs to the presented arguments/reasoning 3) then causing the hearer to stereo-type the intended target, and despise them in heart at the worst.

It is not a light at the end of the tunnel, its a self perpetuating, self feeding seething with no hope. Just a continual descending darkness.

1963 Dream: There is a Problem, “I have a Dream”

A.K.A. “Love and Optimism

How does this grievance finding line up with what MLK said in his “I have a Dream Speech“?

Please take the 10 minutes to read  MLK Jr’s I have a Dream Speech  or  watch it on YouTube.com (17 Minutes).  Seriously, Read or watch.  #ChillBumps. #GoodStuff.

He speaks of the “negro revolt” but rounded it off with the last line of this clip:  “Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.” The rest of the speech speaks of day where, by his very words, the sunshine feels warm on the soul. The dark storm clouds are rolled away revealing a clear-blue sky.

mlk-1mlk-2

He had a dream “rooted in the  American Dream … ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,” not just believing but boldly proclaiming that included “his people” as well.

mlk-3

He had a dream where his children would live in a nation where they will be judged by the content of their character, and not the color of their skin.  And little white and black children can join hand in hand as brothers and sisters. #Amen

mlk-4

And it is in faith he desired to see the glory of the Lord revealed to all flesh, transforming the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood, to pray together, to struggle together, go to jail together and stand up for freedom together.

mlk-5

And that famous line that resounds still today: “Free at last, Free at last, Great God a-mighty, We are free at last.”

mlk-6-free-at-last

This is a positive message of hope, filled with a destination.  He calls for righteous-revolt, tempered with peace and having a trusting faith in God – which I argue is the cornerstone of his motivation.

MLK Jr. by his words and confidence removed the clouds of a self-feeding darkness and pointed to a destination with an obtainable end.  The grievance-peddlers do not have an endpoint.  Its just a ray that continually points downward with no end in sight.

Today: Hopeless Humanism

Today we are told in various medium we need more “Education”, “Information”,  “Understanding.” We’ve kicked God’s call for “Grace” and “Forgiveness” to the curb, out of the public and ultimately private areas of life, relying more on man-centered solutions. All that remains is a constant reminder that there is a wrong and it can never be covered or paid.

Alveda King calls for “Agape Love” – in New Testament Greek this is “Godly love:, treating each other as God (Jesus) would have us treat each other: bearing with each others burdens, forgiving just as our Heavenly Father is ready to forgive us.

1st Corinthians 13 tells us about Agape Love:

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[b] it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends. … 1So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Humanism ultimately transposes verses 4-7 into what our society is today:  Impatient, unkind, envying, boastful, arrogant, rude, insisting on our own way, resentful, and yes – rejoicing at wrong doing to those with whom I have a grievance. Reject the truth if it doesn’t support my narrative, bear with nothing (snowflake,) believe nothing (turmoil/contradiction), which ultimately descends into hopelessness.

The Dreams Doctor King spelled out in 1963 has been realized in a great many ways, in great fashion, but it has been destroyed by our society and culture abandoning its roots in God Himself and his word, relying more and more on secular and humanistic solutions which do not resolve anything. Out of this has grown a narrative of grievance for sin that can never be paid.  Apart from knowing Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness towards each other, it never will be.

When God calls us to overlook an offense, it is often to cover our own misconceptions or wrong feelings – considering others more significant than ourselves.

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

While we can always dream, this Hope will be realized one day when Jesus returns and establishes his kingdom here on Earth. From what I read of Martin Luther King Jr. he had/has the same hope and I look forward to chatting with him about it in Eternal Glory.
