Be careful when you throw stones

Modern people think protesting and resisting is a right, and is good. Is it?

I was reading a passage just today 2 Samuel 16:5-6 :

“When King David came to Bahurim, there came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera, and as he came he cursed continually. And he threw stones at David and at all the servants of King David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.”

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭16:5-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2sa.16.5-6.esv

This always gives me pause: be careful when and to what you throw stones. You never know when it will return back on your head.

If you read a little further through the Biblical narrative, when Solomon was King, it was poured back onto Shimei’s head when he left Jerusalem to search for a servant.  Solomon had ordered Shimei to never leave Jerusalem again in order to keep his life, hardening back to the events in this very passage.

Who knows why King David didn’t address it in his lifetime, but I am just following the narrative.

Bringing this to modern day application, I think of modern politics. I seriously had very little love for the policies nor mannerisms of Barack Obama – bordering on the offensive at times at his deference to foreign dictators.  But I never threw, nor would I throw, stones.  He was the Lord’s annointed:

“But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for who can put out his hand against the Lord ‘s anointed and be guiltless?””

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭26:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/1sa.26.9.esv

Consider all of the riots and street burning that happened during Obama’s time in office. There was some of that but it was targetted against those to whom Obama opposed (specificlaly Police or “Tea Baggers” as he affectionally called his opposition.)

Consider the opposition (riots and street burning) that exists against Donald Trump. It’s not just rhetorical. People have been marching causing violent damage. Bone-headed celebreties like Madonna, Johnny Depp, or Ashley Judd wanting to blow up the White House, kill the president, or screaming ‘I’m a “naaaaaasty” woman!’ All of this because they didn’t like an election result. As an aside, Ashly Judd is a pretty lady, but her dark heart makes her very unattractive.

In part some of this is artificially stoked by powerful forces like George Soros, funding these riots/rebels to his own gain.  (It is well know he enriches himself by destabilizing markets and shaking them to their core so he can buy low and make more cash on the way back up.). Even he has a form of stone throwing himself.

But all of this rioting, I consider how it will eventually be returned back on the heads of those actually causing the ruckus. We live in a worked that is descending further into darkness, and it may take years for the whole narrative to unfold, but do not be deceived, God will not be mocked.  Satan may be the prince of the power of the air, but this is still God’s world. His creation. He has an expectation for us and our behavior. Scripture tells us all things hold together through Christ, and if it is He who is making our hearts beat, how long will he tolerate giving the gift of life to those in utter rebellion to Him and to His offered peace?

Billy Joel sang (a rather snappy tune I must say) : “Only the Good die Young”

God promises our obedience to Him,  He will lengthen our days.  Now this is in his good will of course.  I’ve known even righteous people who have died early. I suspect more as a gift to them to get them out of here into Jesus’ presence where there is no more sorrow.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:1-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I encourage everyone to do more than a double-take before throwing that stone – especially to ones in authority over us.

An Ashley Madison Conundrum

Is that Forbidden Fruit Really Worth it?

I was reading a story on ZDNet about an Ashley Madison ex-customer who, via hacked information, was being blackmailed to pay up to cover up extramarital activities.  (Remember the Story when Ashley Madison Extra-marital affair WebSite was hacked in 2015?)

In Ashley

The story is lengthy, which I won’t recount here, but it sets up its anonymously named ‘Tom’ as a victim of a wife who didn’t want to be intimate, and having an affair partner who wanted more than just sex.  He was safe until it was hacked.  Now the hackers are reaching out to him via email threatening to send a revealing letter to his home address.

The story lifts up how awesome and less tense his marriage was once he had an outlet for sex. “It was really helpful” so says this piece.

Culture

I’ve noted in recent days (accelerating since 2010 I would say) the decline in any moral or civil values in our culture. It’s not about “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”That has been substituted with “Do unto others as I selfishly desire, and when caught or called out, excuse myself and blame ‘them’ for being judgemental. I’m okay!”

So we dive headlong into what is obviously destructive behavior, thinking one of a number of erroneous things like

  • Everyone Else is doing it
  • I have a valid *reason* for doing this: ___________ (plug in your excuse)

Between those two, ESPECIALLY they last one, we cover all of our selfish desires no matter how damaging. And then we get caught. Suddenly that last excuse becomes a weapon by which we use to either sheild ourselves or to hurl at someone else in attack. And we start Damage Control. The house of cards starts to fall down all around us and
we realize those excuses are flimsy. Some will actually wisely succumb to the inevitable. Other will fight what they deem a righteous war (defending their lapse) but only wind up winning a Pyrrhic Victory. They Win a battle, but wind up losing the war. It’s kinda like the difference between being right, and dead-right.

Consequences

As a man, I can empathize (from the flesh) with this Tom fellow. I think most of us could. But as a Christian and adult understanding the consequences of my actions, I can only shake my head and think he “Shoulda known better”. The Ashley Madison Logo of a lady’s face  holding up a “Shoosh” finger in front of ruby red lips should’ve easily translated into the Jolly Roger Skull and Crossbones Flag. Abandon hope all ye who enter. I think the Easter Mystic idea of Karma fits here.
Some people get away with bad behavior and it looks glamorous. But what about those who get caught? Yeah, we don’t read too much about those narratives. We are deceived today about consequences. The fact this guy Tom was even getting pressured from the person he was fooliing around with wanting more was unforseen danger. Today we ignore what happens if the whole thing just comes crashing down.
The guy Tom only has a wife – who would be crushed. I am not excusing her lack of enthusiasm for being with her husband. (I could argue she allowed the soil to harden that created this condition, so Tom is not alone being at fault – he just took the consequential action by which his small family is threatened). What if there were kids? Relationships get torn and innocents get caught in the middle. Messy Messy Messy.
If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. If it screams forbidden fruit, are you ready to pay the cost? Are you even paying attention to the cost?

Some godly wisdom

Here are some things from God’s word to consider, especially when it comes to acting on “Forbidden Fruit”. And if you are a reader who maybe is suffering consequences as a result of bad decisions, please read to the end. There is a passage specifially for you – one of hope and restoration.

  • “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:7-8, 10‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    http://bible.com/59/gal.6.7-8,10.esv
  • “”You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:27-28‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    http://bible.com/59/mat.5.27-28.esv
  • “Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.” “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.”
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:11-14‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    http://bible.com/59/rev.22.11-14.esv

Hope and Restoration

I am not going to candy coat it. Sin is destructive. All the way back to the first rebellion in the garden of Eden. Jesus Christ died to pay the price for that sin. All he asks is you repent of your sin and ask forgiveness of him, and then follow him diligently. And here is his promise:

“If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:6-7‬ ‭ESV‬‬
http://bible.com/59/1jn.1.6-7.esv

We can be cleansed of that sin. Maybe not the consequences, but he will separate it from as far as is East is from the West. Only then is there hope of restoration (over time.)

Establishment McConnell, Obamacare, and Word-Warriors Cruz and Meadows

I have serious misgivings about the processes and people we have in place in Washington D.C. In our modern day.  It’s not the Constitution that’s the problem, but rather the Senate and House procedures and the perverse thinking of the people who put them in place. Our representatives care more about themselves than the people they represent.

I call these people the #Establishment.  They care more about their wealth and power than the benefit of the country as a whole.  It represents the Socialism slide our leaders  have gone down, taking us further and further into a caste system of classes: Haves and Have-nots.

The Haves and Have-Nots

  • Our Rulers, our “better” are the Haves.
  • The Country Class (“us”) are broken into two simple categories:
    1. Those who have either fallen into the Under Employed / Unemployed category – forced either directly or indirectly by Government policy – the HAVE-NOTS
    2. Those who by fortunate choices early on in career, or being in a lucky gene-club (born to well-off parents), whatever – they have managed to have  path of gainful employment due to technical specialty or other need – the HAVES

I’m not a Black Lives Matter or Vagina Monologue sympathizer for the rebellion and violence they foment, but their message is rooted in the above – HAVE-NOT.  They are laying blame for problems at the wrong feet.   I point you, the reader, to either the 24 hour news cycle propaganda or our “Betters”, the ruling class, causing a chasm and perceived necessary dependence upon Government for the Country-Class existene (Haves and Have-nots) existence.

Side Note: I hope the recent CNN Russia Debacle has opened eyes and minds to the existence of a False News Narrative (FNN, #FakeNews.)

Obamacare and the Establishment

The problem of propaganda aside, the Washington ruling class is a serious problem.  First they (as #Establishment Democrats) foisted Obamacare on the country.  It wasn’t popular in 2010 and neither in 2016/2017 as its ramifications came to fruition: you can’t keep your doctor cause he quit (expensive Government Regulation) and the soaring cost for less-coverage (in Arizona with 110% increases and Health care costing more than a mortgage.)

Another problem is we have a whole younger generation who matured knowing nothing but Obamacare and have an incorrect belief no one will have health coverage without a government guarantee.  Utter nonsense, but that’s what our “Betters” have engineered, on purpose.

That brings me to Mitch McConnell and the Obamacare Repeal this week. We’ve had “Republicans” promising to dump this job killing, bank account-draining albatross during the campaign. Now here it is and we have an #Establishment Republican standing in the way of Repeal.  In some ways he listens to the voices of his “buddies” in Washington D.C. And ignores the outcry from the rest of the Country-Class – outside the D.C. area.

Whatever it is, he (and other Senators) believe his retention of Power and Wealth are dependent upon how the vote goes (primarily to keep the Law in place.).  Obamacare is onerous legislation that harms people more than helps. And our betters are more afraid of the media and the jabber in Washington that us out here in the country-class.

Word Warriors to the Rescue

I am glad there is a Non-Violent Civil War (of words) going on right now.  Obamacare, other nasty harmful Obama policies need to be repealed and rolled back to give us health.  I am also thankful for word warriors like Mark Meadows and Ted Cruz taking the fight to Washington D.C.  On our behalf.

The Hill had a decent write up on this today.
Conservative warns McConnell to not give up on ObamaCare repeal

Send them your support via messages, social posts. Let the world know love of Obama policies is not universal – as liberals like to convince themselves – and scream at the rest of us if we disagree with them (Fascism.)

Diminish the Cause

I saw the following conversation appear in my Facebook “news”-feed last week, sharing an article.

IMG_0025

This is the link to the unflattering Babylon Bee Article Which isolates some silly President Trump Twitter Tweets about a Whitehouse Step apparently Obama had constructed, followed by “Sick Guy”

The debate started when this person wrote “Resign already. You’re not up to the task.”

Friend-1 wrote back with all of Trump’s accomplishments … Author replied Trump is being petulant on Twitter … Friend-2 wrote about how morally flawed the President is … and Friend-2 asked “how can Christians defend (or support) Donald J Trump?” … I [FruitOnTheBottom] spoke of my appreciation for him taking arrows for things I believe in — Main Stream Media/Democrat Politicians like to berate & make fun of my beliefs … [Author]wrote God is judging the United States through the Presidency of Donald J Trump …

This went on for over 70 additional replies and sub-replies.

A lot of sweat beads on brows and head butting. Sinful human beings out in the open, On the World Wide Web unable to reasonably agree in a reasonable dialog. Not a surprise.

The biggest impact I believe were the several non-conservative / Donald Trump detractors watching from the sidelines who either “Liked” the thread or offered a short reply somewhere. This is where I take a little issue with these Never-Trumpers, emboldening the detractors.

A little background:

I know these people. Go to church with these people – Evangelical plain-vanilla Christians. And we’ve been having these same discussions since before the completion of the November elections.

They are generally mild-mannered, reasonable, extremely intelligent folks. They are not your typical “Not my president” violent-protestor dirt bags setting streets on fire and smashing windows on banks and Starbucks stores.  But they probably get angry at the news of the day as sometimes we all do.

I was a Ted Cruz supporter until I couldn’t be one any longer.  I went with the candidate my side chose.
These other guys, well … they decided to go the “Independent” route, which meant Libertarian Gary Johnson – who got smeared by the snobby know-it-all Establishment 24 hours news cycle for not knowing where-is Aleppo (Syria).  We all know now, at poor Gary’s expense.  But he is a huge Marijuana legalization guy, so I trust after losing badly in the election he rolled up a doob and went Bob Marley on the world: “Every little thing … gonna be alright.”  So I don’t feel too bad for him.

More disclosure: I am against Cannabis legalization, and I have for a long time been anti-Establishment (both Democrat AND Republican) as that is the group selling out our country for their own power.

Lastly “Make America Great Again” resonates with me. I remember a time growing up in the 80’s when National Pride was still okay.  Today if you have any love of country you’re an unsophisticated boob (that is what I refer to as #Establishment.)

Diminishing the President, Diminishing Their Cause

Never Trumpers

So here are these Never-Trumpers smashing the president, calling him names, dengrating him, and calling into question the thinking of Christians who would deign to support Donald J Trump. This morally flawed, un-Christian President.
In their mind they have separated the man from the issues. They could celebrate the victories if they just get over by whose hand they are coming.

The Never America Crowd

Trolling around is a small but rabid group that wants to see Donald J Trump AND his policies destroyed at all costs.  And these are people with whom we also go to church, and possibly some, not.
– Identity politics.
– Politics of Security (Government control of citizen lives in exchange for retirement, an Obamaphone, Health Care, etc.)
– Empathizing with Illegals and Syrian refugees (rather than guarding the fort at home, they disregard dangers coming across our borders.)
– One person even went so far to say they mourned with the people outside our country that Trump was elected.
These people watch this Facebook back & forth and cheer it on, not just for the [Author’s] sake of tearing down the president, but also for tearing down all for which he stands, his agenda.

  • Make America Great Again
  • Push against the predominant media culture defining its opponents through a slanted over broadcast
  • Stand for what is right, and push to make that happen
  • Guard our home borders for the citizens
    • this doesn’t disregard the alien nor the widow as God has left us a pattern in His word (the Bible)
  • Enforce the Laws, not disregard them because it makes some people feel bad (for whatever reason.)
    • This is a perversion of Justice
  • Put Americans back to work
  • Reasonable Environmental Policy

(Under “normal?” circumstances the Never-Trumpers would be in agreement with these.)

Instead they take the tear-down route, which emboldens those who not only want to see Trump destroyed and resign, but also believe America is so guilty of crimes against humanity it deserves to be diminished. They are okay if America expose itself to the illegal alien and the Syrian refugee –  of whom approximately 20% of crossers were counted as  ISIS terrorists. (Think of the recent months with Terror attacks in Great Britain and France.)

When a Never-Trumper takes a stand against the rightly elected leader of the country, they are also taking a stand against the above items, emboldening the enemies (both foreign and domestic) to the US. This is the one part that fails to click. And all the while they look down their noses to those who do, as if they inhabit the Moral High Ground.

They are too blinded by their own pride to see that, but I love this quote from that thread:

From a Facebook reply:

You joined the other side by helping it get elected

[Responder] You joined the other side by helping it get elected when you took your vote away from the side you normally vote for … I don’t believe the ends justify the means either, and neither was that my argument. He’s not accomplishing his agenda by tweeting. He’s following the means set up by the Constitution to bring about the good ends seen above … the non-violent civil war is a reality whether you like it or not. Many conservatives have been talking about it for a while now, including Dennis Prager { America’s 2nd Civil War } and David Greenfield from Frontpage Magazine {The Civil War is Here}

What I appreciate about Trump

Do I like some of Trumps tweets? Not really. But I love the fact he is not a Washington Insider.  He is the richest person to behave like an average Joe-the-Plumber.

He has really got the attention of the #Establishment as they are literally cracking up before our eyes.  (Maxine Watters is really having a public relations cow out there).

I see the politicians slamming him overseas, and CNN, MSNBC chasing the wind as they invent scandals to chase – like #Russia or Trump or the “Golden Showers” #dossier. It is literally Fake News. All made up to push a narrative people like John McCain and Jake Zuckerberg want to see pushed.

But The cool thing is, the #Establishment know its threatened and that’s why they are acting they way they do now.

From a Facebook reply:

[FruitOnTheBottom]
One thing about Trump I appreciate: The Media, Democrats, and general Left like to Impugn, make fun of, castigate **everything** I believe in. Any-other and every-other elected “Republican” (#Establishment) has just sat there and took it. Trump is showing you can fight this crap back and the people back him up. The Tweets and some of his methods aren’t the best, but CNN and MSNBC dish this poison 92% anti-trump/anti-myBeliefs (and it was the same during Bush years) – just as bad during Reagan’s years with the 3 big networks. I’m tired of the hypocrisy where the left can play dirty and the right has to sit there and take it with a grin. I’m glad. Go Trump

Final Thought

Never-Trump-ism has its roots in two things:

  1. Trump is confident (“your gonna get used to winning” he says) — Today, you aren’t supposed to be that confident
  2. The October Surprise if the Access Hollywood tape being released by NBC
    • In it Trump said some pretty awful things, believing the camera to be off
    • It was “illegally” released by NBC. It violated California Law to release a secretly recorded message of someone without there knowledge
How dare a pig like that get-off acting as if he can take the Moral high ground when he’s just a bottom feeder?

That tape has had the desired affect of turning off some Christians.  I get that. That tape made me cringe.
But his confidence is something of which to take note. We are not allowed to be this confident today, especially as men. They modern day snowflakes liken it to arrogance, preferring the cowardly, back-seat, passive aggressive type male, James Comey as Mister Sexy/Hot.

America needs a Donald J Trump – and everything that he is – to be President. He has balls. Brass ones. This is a rare characteristic trait. Look at Jeb Bush, or Mit Romney, or John Kasich. These guys still sitting around with hurt feelings after the 2016 campaign. (Mit only because he was a Never Trumper not running for election.). Each of them the passive aggressive, play the Establishment game-i-tarians. They would let Obamacare – the most damaging legislation ever passed in muy lifetime – stand without so much a whisper of opposition, let Iran keep the current Nuclear deal while trying some “sly” route to break it down, and try to place with the Media and Democrats to show they can “reach across the aisle.” In other words, our country would’ve continued its downward slide. Excpet by God’s grace he gave a strong President in Donald J Trump.

So when the Never Trumpers sound off against the President, they are sounding off against what is good for the country, and what is quite possibly their own beliefs. Like Jesus said – he who is with-you/for-you is not against you. Can’t quite ge these #NT believers there. But I’m, hoping.
